DAY3: LAC ABBEH SUNRISE AND DRIVE TO FORET DU DAY

The wakeup call for the sunrise is early in the morning; you drive to the small chimney’s area for sunrise and for visiting hot springs and Pink flamingos at the lake.

Lac Abbeh, also called “the rotten lake” in Afar (the inhabitants of the region) due to the awful odours discharged by the boiling and sulphuric water sources (80˚-100˚C), is situated at the junction of 3 rifts - East African, the Red Sea, and the Golf of Aden – but it is also particularly situated at the meeting of the Rift Valley and the Assal Rift.

After visiting and exploring Lac Abbeh, back to tourist camp for breakfast, then you drive back to Dikhil for lunch, on the way you stop in Kouta Bouya to visit the village. Dikhil sight seeing!

After lunch at La Palmaraie, you drive to Foret du Day or Day Forest in English, which is part of the North Circuit. On the way, you stop for visiting scenic views of Canyon Adaleh and La Faille du Goubet; part of the Danakil depression. Late in the afternoon, you reach the tourist camp of Day. After dinner is your own time.

Overnight: Day tourist Camp (1 night) (B)

The Sultanate of Tadjourah is exactly where the history of the Republic of Djibouti starts. After visiting Tadjourah, you drive to Sable Blanc for swimming and snorkelling.

La Plage de Sable Blanc or White Sand Beach in English is 10min from the historical city of Tadjourah. The White Sand beach is one of the best spot for snorkelling because the area has magnificent corals full of colourful fishes and it is also a great spot for fishing big size fish like dorades, carangus and barracudas. The area is wonderful for hiking, exploring the mountains and animals photographing. After dinner is your own time. Overnight: Sable blanc tourist camp (1 night) (B)

DAY 5: VISIT LAC ASSAL / GOUBET / VOLCANO AREA – DJIBOUTI CITY TOUR

Today there is no active volcano in Djibouti, but the Danakil depression is divided between Djibouti, Ethiopia and Eritrea. The volcano Erta Ale in Ethiopia is active.

About 2 kms distance from Lac Assal, you stop once again in KORILLI to visit hot springs before visiting the lowest spot in Africa, “ THE LAC ASSAL”  or Bahr al Assal in Arabic, the sea of honey (153 m below sea level) is located 107 kms west of Djibouti town.
